So – let’s try this again, shall we? We’re back out to the US & Canada (Toronto) in March and April of this year – we literally can’t wait!
After all the frustrations of 2023, where visa issues meant we had to put our plans on ice, it’s time for us to get back out on the road again, where we belong. This year is a particularly significant time to do it, as well. 2024 marks thirty-five years since we started doing this. “Info Freako” emerged at the start of 1989; later that year, we unleashed “Liquidizer”. 1989 was the start of it all for us, so we’re taking this opportunity to travel around the globe yet again on a 35th-anniversary tour. We kicked it all off with a couple of warmup shows just before Christmas in the UK, and then we’re headed over to Australia with our old friends PWEI. All of that means we’ll be able to hit the ground running when we touch down for the start of the US leg in Minneapolis on March 26. The tour wends its way around the midwest and has a diversion across the border into Toronto before we explore the East Coast.
So – let’s deal with the elephant in the room – OK, where are the West Coast shows? With a busy year ahead of us and a musical project that’s no longer a full-time career but an adjunct to our hectic family lives and jobs, we just couldn’t find the time to do it all in one go. The plan is to come back and do the West Coast next time. So, this is part one of the tour; once it’s done, we can regroup and work on getting down to part two. Sound OK?
It’s the original lineup, so Al will be with us on Bass, and we’ll play material from across these thirty-five years, from “Info”, which was written in the summer of 1988, to our new single “Still Smiling”, written in the summer of 2023. Amazingly, it’s been three decades since the original five-piece lineup toured the US, so it’s an extra special occasion for us. Like we said – can’t wait!
The tour visits some favourite locations for us (NYC, Minneapolis, Philly, Boston), but there’s also the chance for us to visit some places we’ve never been to before (Wantagh, Hamden), which is another thrill. We’re also really chuffed to have our Friends The Discoveries Of The American Scientific along as our support act for th tour. We first played with DOTAS, when we visited WIRE in Berwyn back in 2019. We’ve been firm friends ever since, and have been itching for a chance to go and hit th road together. That time has finally come.
